Ginger Health Benefits



Ginger is a famous spice in Asian and Indian cuisine. It used for medicinal purposes from ancient times. As ginger is a rhizome, it consumed fresh, dry as a spice and in powder shape.
Ginger has a wide range of benefits to human health. Modern scientific research revealed that the Ginger root has many therapeutic properties that include antioxidants, which inhibit the formation of inflammatory compounds and activate anti-inflammatory compounds.  Ginger proves to be very effective in eliminating gastrointestinal distress. A recent double-blind study demonstrated that ginger root is an effective remedy in preventing motion sickness symptoms. Ginger relieves all associated symptoms of motion sickness, which include nausea, vomiting, dizziness and cold sweating.


Headache and Migraine


The analgesic properties of ginger root are very effective to relieve headache including migraine. Ginger is sometimes more potent than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). You try this remedy at home; rub the paste made by the fresh ginger in between your eyebrows or on your forehead. You can also take ginger root powder and honey with warm water to get instant relief in headache.


Cold and Cough


Ginger root is inexpensive and side effects free remedy for common cold, flu and dry cough. Especially for baby kids, where using anti biotic medicine can affect their growth. Nutrients in ginger are helpful in warming up the lungs. It reduces the density of mucus in cold weather. Take a piece of ginger (organic is preferred) cut it into small pieces and chop them fine. Put these pieces in a pan with some water and boil it for 15 minutes on a low flame. Then let it cool for a few minutes and take it. Add some honey for a sweet taste in case of baby kid. Alternatively, boil ginger, cinnamon and honey in equal quantity, and then drink it lukewarm.


Scanty of Menses in Women


Irregular periods or scanty of menses is common in woman. It is an indicator of problem with hormone imbalance or other medical condition. Ginger root is an old and traditional treatment to regulate the menstrual flow and relieve menstrual cramps. Boil pieces of ginger and cinnamon in a milk and drink lukewarm before going to bed at night.


Bloating and Flatulence


Ginger root is potent digestive ingredient. Ginger is used from ancient times as a remedy to alleviate stomach cramps bloating and Gas. Consuming ginger in any form regulates craving and prevent eating too quickly and anti-inflammatory property of ginger root helps to relieve inflammation and regulates the stomach function.
